Gestures

February 19, 2023

Gestures in mobile apps refer to specific, often simple movements of the fingers on a touch screen that are used to interact with the app and navigate through its features. These gestures are designed to make the app more intuitive and user-friendly.

Gestures used in mobile apps include:

Tap: A single finger presses and releases on the screen. This gesture is often used to select items or open menus.

Swipe: A quick, horizontal or vertical movement of the finger on the screen. This gesture is often used to navigate through lists or pages.

Pinch: A two-finger movement on the screen where the fingers move towards or away from each other. This gesture is often used to zoom in or out of images or maps.

Rotate: A two-finger movement on the screen where the fingers move in a circular motion. This gesture is often used to rotate images or 3D objects.

Long press: A press and hold of one or more fingers on the screen. This gesture is often used to access additional options or menus.

It’s important to note that gestures can vary depending on the app and the device. Additionally, while gestures are becoming standard in mobile apps, it’s also important to provide an alternative way to interact with the app for users with motor difficulties.
